Mad City Marathon

2007-05-30    4:40 p.m.

Well, I sucked it up and officially put the Dallas Marathon behind me. This Sunday’s marathon in Madison was a cake walk, and never once did I exclaim to myself, “I’m never doing this again!” With a great course with trees lining a gravel path, a pleasant lakefront breeze, cooperative weather, and plenty of support staff along the way, I’d rate this as my favorite marathon besides my first Chicago one.

Fun fact: Three of my marathons, including this one, have finished within 54 seconds of each other.

Next week officially starts the 18-week Hal Higdon training program for Chicago. I’m now aiming to get a time that’s actually considered good instead of my usual acceptable.

Here’s to hoping...
